Senior Diabetic Mellitus Complication Screening Nurse

About the role

The Senior/Enrolled Nurse will provide safe, high‑quality care by conducting diabetic foot and eye complication screenings for patients under the care of NUH Diabetes specialists. This role ensures timely identification of abnormalities and delivers education to patients and caregivers.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, perform and plan diabetic foot and eye screenings for eligible patients.
• Escalate and refer abnormal foot or eye findings to the appropriate physician.
• Provide diabetes foot‑care education and develop management plans for patients and caregivers.
• Track doctors' lists to identify patients due for screening and schedule appointments accordingly.
• Maintain a log‑book of at least ten foot and ten eye procedures during training.
• Follow up on screening results and communicate critical findings to doctors.

Required profile

• Enrolled or registered nurse with experience in diabetes care.
• Completed training program in the diabetes clinic and demonstrated competency in foot and eye screening procedures.
• Ability to work in an outpatient clinical setting and maintain accurate patient records.

Required skills

• Diabetic foot assessment (including neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease).
• Diabetic eye screening (visual acuity testing and retinal photography).
• Patient education on diabetic foot and eye care.
• Documentation and escalation of abnormal findings.
