Senior Director, Membership

About the role

The Senior Director, Membership will lead Star Alliance’s membership strategy from its Singapore office. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Strategy, the role works closely with internal team leaders and senior airline partners to ensure the membership framework delivers long‑term value and aligns with the Alliance’s corporate goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the strategic framework for standards, core values and the product portfolio across all member airlines.
• Oversee quality assurance, audits and governance for Full Members, Connecting Partners and Intermodal Partners.
• Manage integration of new members and exit processes for departing members, ensuring disciplined governance and seamless delivery.
• Translate business objectives into clear operating models, processes and accountabilities for member airlines.
• Chair the Membership Liaison and Quality Committee to drive decisions, accountability and follow‑through.
• Own the roadmap for membership standards, core values and product portfolio, prioritising investments that create member value.
• Develop and execute a product portfolio strategy aligned with Star Alliance’s business priorities, monitoring financial impact, ROI and adoption.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews and recommend adjustments based on performance, cost and strategic relevance.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in the airline industry covering commercial, operational and technical functions.
• Proven ability to set strategic direction, guide execution and make prioritisation decisions in a multi‑airline governance environment.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing senior airline executives.
• Excellent analytical and governance expertise to ensure compliance and quality across a global alliance.
