Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

Illumina is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven and energetic Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its Electrical Engineering team at the Singapore design facility. The team defines, develops and commercializes designs for new sequencing instruments for life sciences and clinical markets, in a fast-paced environment with open communication and mutual respect.

Key responsibilities

• Perform board-level design covering complexity, power, size and thermal management
• Run parameter analysis, system modelling, board simulation, bring-up and troubleshooting
• Contribute to power systems, cabling, communication, safety and control systems
• Lead failure analysis at board and system level, driving short-term containment and permanent fixes
• Drive development of sequencing instruments within embedded systems, and own instrument-level telemetry design with firmware and software teams
• Build tools to monitor and evaluate instrument performance data
• Identify EMI/EMC issues and recommend mitigation strategies
• Optimize performance, reliability and cost with cross-functional teams, and define processes to improve project execution
• Support RUO and/or IVD product deliverables such as design verification, specification management and traceability
• Participate in project risk management (FMEAs, hazard analysis)

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience, or BS degree in EE with 5+ years, or MS degree with 3+ years
• Ability to guide multi-discipline design teams and influence team members toward common goals
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
