About the role
Seagate is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to lead employment law matters across the Asia‑Pacific region. This senior legal professional will act as a trusted partner to business and HR leaders, providing strategic advice and driving proactive improvements to employment practices.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the lead employment law advisor for assigned APAC countries, delivering strategic counsel to management and HR.
- Identify legal risks, propose practical solutions, and align business objectives with Seagate’s compliance obligations.
- Influence leaders at all levels, challenge assumptions constructively, and champion change through strong partnership.
- Lead initiatives from concept to implementation, collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure adoption and sustainability.
- Update and improve employment policies and processes.
- Advise on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, restructurings, RIFs, leaves, accommodations, compensation programs, and executive employment issues.
- Conduct and oversee internal investigations of employee complaints, misconduct, and ethics concerns.
- Manage employment litigation, administrative proceedings, government claims, and pre‑litigation disputes, including oversight of outside counsel.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in employment law, preferably within a multinational manufacturing or technology environment.
- Proven ability to provide strategic, business‑focused legal advice across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of influencing senior leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building credibility and driving change.
Required skills
- Deep knowledge of APAC employment legislation and regulations.
- Experience managing employment litigation and investigations.
- Ability to draft and implement employment policies and templates.
