Senior Executive / Assistant Manager, Content Development & Writer (Science, Engineering, Tech)

About the role

This role supports the College of Engineering's communications function by developing research-based content and helping coordinate the administrative processes behind content delivery. Working closely with the Head of Communications, it translates scientific and engineering concepts into accessible content, supports content pipelines and stakeholder coordination, and complements digital and design functions.

Key responsibilities

• Pitch, research, write and edit technical stories, features and profiles on faculty, students, research projects and publications
• Interview researchers and turn complex scientific concepts into clear, structured narratives, ensuring accuracy and editorial standards
• Help develop the content pipeline system and campaigns, and maintain a central tracker of stories in progress, upcoming opportunities and deadlines
• Follow up with stakeholders to gather inputs, materials and approvals, and coordinate interviews with faculty and researchers
• Prepare content for the website, newsletter and publications, and help with proofreading, fact-checking and longer-form outputs such as the Annual Magazine
• Ad hoc duties may include communications calendar support, content intake and documentation, basic analytics reporting, website updates and general support to digital and design functions

Required profile

• A background in science, engineering or research combined with an interest in science communication or journalism, or vice versa
• Ability to understand and interpret technical material
• Strong writing skills with attention to clarity and accuracy
• Understanding of what makes a good narrative
• Comfortable engaging with academic stakeholders, and able to manage multiple inputs
