Senior Executive - Ethics Review Board Operations

About the role

The Senior Executive (DSRB Analyst) supports the NHG Office of Human Research Protection Programme (OHRPP) in providing high-level administrative support for ethics, so that the research ethics review process remains robust and sustainable. The role assists the Manager in running the Domain-Specific Review Boards, which protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Help prepare, regularly review and update research ethical guidelines, policies and standard operating procedures, and perform secretariat duties to the NHG REC if appointed.
• Ensure review protocols are assessed efficiently and consistently with regulations, guidelines and policy, and that meeting agendas, quorum, minutes and follow-up actions are properly documented.
• Screen applications and correspondence, and oversee accurate and timely processing of submissions and actions by the review boards.
• Manage domain operations and meetings, and contribute to quality improvement of the ethics approval process.
• Act as a resource for investigators and researchers on DSRB policies, procedures and forms, and document all communications with sponsors, investigators, board members and regulators.
• Maintain an accurate, up-to-date database of all applications and help prepare DSRB-related reports.
• Take part in cross-domain coverage plans, serve as secretariat for ethics conferences and programs, and carry out other ad-hoc duties.

Required profile

• Degree, preferably in Science, Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy or Health Sciences.
• Relevant experience in healthcare, research and related training (e.g. CITI and GCP) is an advantage, especially in public healthcare institutions.
• Basic understanding of research ethics policies and local regulations.
• Good interpersonal, influencing and team skills, and ability to work independently under pressure.
