Senior Executive / Executive (Environmental Health)

About the role

The Western Regional Office is looking for highly motivated and dynamic individuals to join as Environmental Health Officers (EHOs). The role upholds high environmental public health standards and keeps neighbourhoods clean and hygienic through inspections, investigations, enforcement and stakeholder engagement to safeguard public health in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections across residential premises, dormitories, construction sites, commercial and trade premises and public places to ensure integrated vector management and sanitation compliance.
• Perform vector surveillance, especially during outbreaks of diseases such as dengue.
• Identify and address cleanliness and refuse management issues.
• Investigate public feedback on environmental health matters.
• Carry out enforcement activities under the Environmental Public Health Act, the Control of Vectors and Pesticide Act and the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act.
• Engage directly with members of the public, residents, premises owners and stakeholders to promote environmental health best practices and vector prevention measures.

Required profile

• Experience in environmental health operations, vector control, sanitation management or related fields.
• Professional certification in environmental health, vector control or pest management is advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking and sound judgement for decision-making and investigations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders and building positive relationships with community members.
• A collaborative team player willing to learn, adapt to changing operational requirements and work in diverse environments.
• Ability to remain composed in challenging or potentially confrontational situations and to work outside standard office hours when required.
