Senior ICU Nurse – Critical Care

About the role

The Senior Staff Nurse (ICU) at Alexandra Hospital provides high‑dependency and critical care to patients who need intensive monitoring and life‑support interventions. This senior position ensures safe, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care while supporting team leadership and clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for ICU patients.
• Monitor and manage critically ill patients, including those on ventilators.
• Operate and troubleshoot ICU equipment such as ventilators, patient monitoring devices and oxygen therapy systems.
• Assist in procedures (e.g., intubation, bronchoscopy) and manage airway devices.
• Recognise and respond promptly to patient deterioration and emergencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in ward rounds.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery pathways.
• Act as Nurse‑in‑Charge when required and mentor junior staff.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with safety standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
• At least 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in an ICU setting.
• Advanced Diploma in Critical Care Nursing is preferred.
• Strong critical‑thinking, communication and teamwork abilities.
