Senior Legal Specialist - Tax Law

About the role

IRAS is recruiting a Senior Legal Specialist for its Law Division, where you will work on tax law and the tax system of Singapore. The role suits a lawyer with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience who wants to apply legal knowledge to tax matters and help develop tax law. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and the Director of the branch you are posted to.

Key responsibilities

• In the prosecution role: give clear and effective directions on investigations and prosecutions, prosecute tax offences in court, and advise on prosecution-related issues.
• In the litigation role: represent IRAS in tax appeals before the tax tribunals and courts, and advise on income tax, GST, stamp duties, property tax and other taxes.
• With good performance, there are progression and rotation opportunities across other legal functions.

Required profile

• Excellent law degree and called to the Singapore Bar.
• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in prosecution or litigation is necessary.
• Desire to serve in public service and a team player.
