Senior Professional Officer – Quantum‑Safe Communications & Cybersecurity

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology is building a quantum‑safe communications hub within the Punggol Digital District. The Senior Professional Officer will lead research, teaching and industry collaboration on post‑quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution and secure network architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver laboratory sessions and practice‑based modules on quantum‑safe communications and post‑quantum cryptography.
• Lead applied research projects and industry collaborations for quantum‑safe network deployment, PQC migration and QKD system integration.
• Operate, maintain and develop the university’s quantum‑safe network testbed, including QKD hardware and hybrid PQC‑QKD setups.
• Supervise and mentor students on capstone and integrated work‑study projects.

Required profile

• Essential PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Cybersecurity, Quantum Information or a closely related field.
• Strong expertise in post‑quantum cryptography algorithm design or implementation (e.g., CRYSTALS‑Kyber, Dilithium, SPHINCS+, FALCON).
• Solid understanding of QKD principles, protocols and system‑level operation (e.g., BB84, CV‑QKD).
• Industry experience in cybersecurity, telecom, quantum companies or applied R&D is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithms and standards (NIST FIPS 203/204/205).
• Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols and hardware.
• Programming in Python, C/C++ or Java; familiarity with liboqs, OpenSSL PQC, BouncyCastle.
• Cryptographic inventory management and crypto‑agility frameworks.
