Senior Quantitative Researcher - Crypto Derivatives

About the role

BlockTech is an algorithmic trading firm trading 24/7 across crypto derivatives and spot markets. It is looking for an experienced quantitative researcher to own a research agenda end-to-end, from hypothesis and data construction to model training, backtesting, live deployment, monitoring and iteration. The role is a senior, hands-on seat on the trading floor, working closely with traders, analysts and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Build price-prediction, signal, execution and anomaly-detection models for crypto derivatives and spot markets, from idea to live PnL
• Work with engineers to build research, backtesting and trading infrastructure so good ideas reach production quickly and safely
• Monitor live models, diagnose decay and iterate on them
• Help decide which trades are worth making and why, alongside traders
• Mentor colleagues, review work and set standards for rigour

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands-on quantitative research and/or applied ML experience, with models taken into production trading live
• Strong academic background in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, ML/AI or similar
• Independent judgement on research bets and clear communication with researchers, engineers and traders
• Clear written and verbal English
• Pluses: live-trading track record in crypto derivatives, mentoring experience, market microstructure and derivatives pricing knowledge

Required skills

• Python fluency
• Modern ML stack: PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas
• Deep understanding of overfitting, generalisation, validation design and feature engineering
