Senior Research Analyst - Healthcare Data & AI

About the role

NHG is hiring a Senior Research Analyst to design, build and deploy advanced analytics and machine learning models, including LLM-powered and agentic AI solutions, to support clinical decision-making and care pathway optimisation. The role also involves maintaining data pipelines, cleaning healthcare datasets and collaborating with clinical and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement advanced analytics and machine learning models, including LLM-powered and agentic AI solutions, to support clinical decision-making and care pathways.
• Build, maintain and optimise automated data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Clean, preprocess, validate and analyse large healthcare datasets.
• Apply statistical methods and data mining techniques to find patterns and insights.
• Develop predictive models and tools for population health and primary care initiatives.
• Work with clinical and operational teams to integrate AI and analytics into real-world care workflows.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports that are usable and clear for non-technical stakeholders.
• As part of a study team: monitor data quality, set up data quality checks, prepare reports and presentations, and help refine analytics and AI solutions in practice.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
• Formal training in data science, analytics, machine learning or artificial intelligence.
• 3-5 years of experience in a data science, analytics or research role.
• Experience with large, complex datasets, preferably in healthcare or population health settings.
• Experience designing and deploying machine learning or advanced analytics solutions.
• Prior exposure to healthcare data, clinical workflows or real-world health system implementation is an advantage.

Required skills

• Programming and analytics tools such as Python, R and SQL.
• Statistical techniques and data mining methods.
• Data visualisation and dashboards with Tableau or Power BI.
• Knowledge of AI and machine learning approaches; experience with LLMs or agentic AI is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (especially AWS) and frameworks such as Streamlit, NextJS and TypeScript is a plus.
• RESTful API development with FastAPI or similar is a plus.
