Senior Research Fellow – Electromagnetic Compatibility

About the role
The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Senior Research Fellow to lead advanced studies in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) focused on submarine cable systems. The successful candidate will join the Electromagnetic Effects Research Laboratory (EMERL) and contribute to cutting‑edge research that supports the reliability of high‑voltage power transmission in maritime environments.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and analyse data on the impact of HVAC power cables on telecommunications submarine systems.
- Perform electromagnetic simulations to predict induced currents and voltages on HVDC submarine cables.
- Coordinate with external measurement contractors to validate simulation results experimentally.
- Prepare regular progress reports and disseminate findings to stakeholders.
Required profile
- PhD in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience in electromagnetic compatibility.
- Strong knowledge of EMC standards and best practices.
- Proven ability to lead projects and manage timelines effectively.
Required skills
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) research expertise.
- Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools.
- Experience in conducting EMC measurements.
- Understanding of HVAC and HVDC cable interactions.
