Senior Research Fellow – Experimental Quantum Physics

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore is seeking a Senior Research Fellow to lead experimental quantum physics work within its Quantum Technology and ultracold atoms laboratory. This senior academic position offers the opportunity to drive cutting‑edge research and mentor a growing team of scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research activities aligned with the Quantum Technology project.
• Supervise and coordinate a team of 6‑9 researchers, post‑doctoral fellows, and graduate students.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior researchers and students.
• Oversee technical and scientific integration across experimental platforms.

Required profile

• PhD in Experimental Quantum Physics or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 4 years post‑doctoral experience in laser cooling of atoms or related research areas.
• Demonstrated track record of successful contributions to quantum‑focused projects.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Laser cooling techniques for ultracold atoms.
• Experimental quantum optics and ultracold atom manipulation.
• Hands‑on experience with precision laser and vacuum systems.
