Senior Software Engineer, Backend

About the role

Grab is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Demand Experiences team in Singapore. The team engineers the platforms used across all Grab business lines, which handle rewards, promos and every consumer transaction. The role reports to the Engineering Manager II and is onsite in the Singapore office.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a wide range of problem spaces covering the full product lifecycle, including front-end development, database design and management, data visualization, API building and CI/CD management.
• Design and write code in Go to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of Demand team services.
• Participate in code and design reviews, service capacity and demand planning, performance analysis, tuning and optimization.
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications, and with other engineering teams to design scalable architectures.
• Work with the infrastructure team to build and scale back-end services and perform root cause analysis.
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems, and take part in the on-call rotation.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in a distributed systems environment.
• Understanding of system performance and scaling.
• Willingness to work on Golang.

Required skills

• Computer science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Programming skills in any language, with Go as a requirement.
