Senior Software Engineer (Big Data Processing)

About the role

As a senior software engineer in a multi‑disciplinary team, you will lead the development of mission‑critical data analytics systems that support Singapore's national security initiatives. You will design, build, test and deploy data‑intensive web applications that are scalable, extensible and maintainable, using cutting‑edge technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop internal flagship data analytics systems, applications and APIs that enable engineers and analysts to retrieve, triage and analyse information efficiently.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions that meet business needs.
• Manage enterprise system performance, reliability and sustainability through software quality control and optimisation.
• Explore emerging technologies and deliver proof‑of‑concepts, including agentic AI systems and multi‑step autonomous agents.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers to foster engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience, preferably full‑stack web development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Java and Kotlin programming.
• Spring Boot framework.
• React for front‑end development.
• Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Oracle databases.
• Docker and Kubernetes containerisation.
• Kafka or RabbitMQ messaging.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools and agentic AI concepts.
