Senior Software Engineer - Experimentation Platform

About the role

Grab is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its engineering team in Singapore. You will take ownership of designing, building and maintaining critical software systems that power GrabX, the internal experimentation platform used to run product experiments without code deployments. The role involves visible, business-critical work with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers and growing as a technical leader.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, maintainable solutions and deliver well-tested code upholding engineering standards
• Collaborate with product, design and backend teams to turn business needs into solutions
• Improve system performance, reliability, observability and quality through optimization and refactoring
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and code reviews
• Troubleshoot production issues and strengthen system reliability
• Mentor junior engineers and use data and experimentation to improve technical decisions and customer experience
• Take part in on-call rotations and own incident response and resolution

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience building production systems at scale
• Expertise in software engineering fundamentals, system design, architecture and scalability
• Experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems
• Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and to mentor others

Required skills

• Go, Spark or Java
• APIs and backend services, performance optimization, testing and debugging
• CI/CD and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure
• Preferrable: database design, microservices, containerization, MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle, and a background in payments, FinTech or authentication
