Senior Specialist, 20th and 21st Century Art, Singapore

About the role

Christie's is looking for a Senior Specialist in 20th and 21st Century Art in Singapore. The role brings in business (consignments and sales) in the South East Asia region and requires in-depth knowledge of client relationship management and the 20th and 21st century art market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and drive business in the SEA subcategory to attain market leadership.
• Develop business development strategies, including auction and private sales, for the SEA category and overall 20/21 development, with the Co-Head of Department and Regional Managing Director.
• Share expertise and develop a successor in the SEA category for talent planning.
• Work with heads of representative offices in SEA to formulate and implement business-getting strategies across channels.
• Identify and cultivate networks among key internal and external stakeholders and clients.
• Manage the pipeline from sourcing opportunities to closing deals and client sales.
• Negotiate commercially viable deals and drive profitability.
• Work with Client Strategy, Business Intelligence and Marketing teams on client needs and sales strategy.
• Build relationships with collectors, dealers, corporations and institutions, including major clients in high-value property sales.
• Take part in pre-selling upcoming auctions, telephone bidding and sale-week marketing.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience in fine arts.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a specialist in a gallery or auction house.
• Demonstrated ability to appraise property and get business.
• Track record of delivering successful sales and strong strategic vision.
• Leadership skills in managing a team are an advantage.
