Senior Student Systems Consultant – Higher Education

About the role

This role advises higher education institutions on their student information systems, acting as functional and solution advisor from current-state assessment through to solution design. It covers product and platform selection, integration design, release sequencing and change management, and works closely with client directors and academic leadership. Shortlisted candidates are offered a 1-year agency contract.

Key responsibilities

• Act as functional and solution advisor on student system engagements, from assessment and requirements to target solution design, holding positions that stand up to client scrutiny.
• Advise on product and platform selection, including fit-gap assessment against packaged student systems and composable or SaaS alternatives.
• Distinguish sector standard practice from institution-specific practice and legacy workarounds, and defend those distinctions to client process owners.
• Shape integration and functional design across the wider application estate, including interfaces between student, finance, human capital and identity systems.
• Advise on release sequencing and change timing against the academic calendar, and on target operating model and change management, including role redesign and adoption planning.
• Advise programme and project leadership on governance, delivery risk and mitigation, and review client-facing deliverables before release.
• Build credibility with client directors and academic leadership so that difficult recommendations can be accepted.
• Carry consistency of position across the higher education portfolio, bringing lessons from one institution to the next.
• Contribute to pursuits and proposals, shape the functional response, test the credibility of scope, approach and estimate, and present to clients.
• Develop and maintain practice assets such as reference models, requirement libraries, solution extensions and implementation templates for the Singapore market.
• Mentor practice leads, consultants and analysts on the education domain.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional standing.
• At least 15 years of professional experience in enterprise applications, with sustained specialisation in student management or student information systems.
• Direct involvement in multiple student system implementations, upgrades or replacements at higher education institutions, in senior roles such as solution architect, functional lead, project or programme manager, or change management lead; breadth across several institutions matters more than years on one.
• Working knowledge of the Singapore higher education environment.
• Experience in a consulting, systems integrator or software vendor environment, working to defined deliverables, milestones and acceptance criteria.

Required skills

• Functional and solution design with at least one major SIS system, able to describe against packaged SaaS systems such as Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Workday Student or Ellucian, including configuration, extension design and integration footprint.
• Ability to hold a position in front of senior stakeholders, including chairing or contributing to workshops and steering forums with directors and academic leadership.
