Software Engineer II – Backend (Message Security)

About the role

Abnormal AI is building an AI‑native platform that protects enterprises from advanced email attacks and account compromise. The CEP team within the Message Security Products organisation is responsible for delivering the capabilities that let customers replace legacy email gateways with Abnormal’s solution. As a Software Engineer II you will join this backend‑focused team in Singapore and help ship the core services that power the product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services that expose CEP’s product surface.
• Build and evolve event‑driven pipelines (Kafka consumers, Airflow DAGs) to process email traffic at enterprise scale.
• Support multi‑tenant, multi‑cloud deployments for M365, Google Workspace and FedRAMP environments.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross‑functional partners to iterate quickly on features that migrate customers from legacy SEG solutions.
• Contribute to service reliability, observability and operational tooling as the product surface expands.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures and performance optimisation.
• Experience building scalable, enterprise‑grade applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to work end‑to‑end on systems and deliver high‑quality code.

Required skills

• Python or Golang programming.
• Kafka (or similar message‑queue/stream processing).
• Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Cloud services: AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Email security concepts such as DMARC, DKIM, SPF.
• APIs for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
