Strategic Operations Engineer - Global Front End Planning

About the role

Micron is hiring a Strategic Operations Engineer for its Global Front End Planning function at Fab 10A. The role covers scenario planning and strategic operations, project and collaborator management, and data, analytics and automation, with an emphasis on applying AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Understand wafer process flows and transfer paths for main products, and apply capacity analysis, production planning and SNOP business processes to keep operations running smoothly.
• Lead scenario studies across business plan horizons, own scenario baselines and change control, and run Fab scenario optimization comparing options on cost, capital, ramp adaptability, inventory strategy and market share/bit growth.
• Align the product roadmap to business requirements, coordinate parameter updates with collaborators, and ensure monthly scenario studies are analyzed and communicated.
• Manage complex projects across departments and sites, drive structured onboarding and continuous improvement, and promote a Lean Manufacturing culture from development through ramp and HVM.
• Communicate with executives, sponsors and cross-functional teams to present insights that support decision-making.
• Deliver qualitative and quantitative analyses such as P&L, ROI/payback and NPV, and build automation and dashboards with Python, Tableau, Power BI or similar tools.
• Use Micron's planning systems and advanced Microsoft Office features for modeling, reporting and executive materials.
• Apply AI-assisted tools responsibly to research, analysis, content creation and operational tasks, and share AI-enabled improvements within your scope.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Production/Operations Management, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience with SNOP process and business plan management.
• Strong understanding of statistics, data analysis and problem solving, with hands-on experience in scenario and comparison methodologies.
• Advanced understanding of Manufacturing Science (scheduling, inventory management, overseeing production capabilities).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong PC skills, data collection and database management, and executive-ready presentation abilities.
• Proven collaboration, multi-tasking and self-motivation with minimal supervision.
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools effectively.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of area tool configurations and basic process/mechanical functionality.
