Substation Lead / Specialist

About the role

Surbana Jurong Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Substation Lead/Specialist to drive planning, design and delivery of high‑voltage power substations (up to 400 kV) in Singapore. The role involves technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and business development within the power sector.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and engineer electrical power substations up to 230 kV/400 kV.
• Perform HV electrical calculations and system studies such as fault current injection, load flow, short‑circuit, harmonic, thermal rating, earthing, stability and protection relay coordination.
• Spatially plan substations considering CAPEX, maintenance and operational requirements.
• Lead consultations with local authorities and agencies, manage project execution and support testing & commissioning.
• Develop business capabilities, drive market expansion and maintain high‑level client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Power Engineering (PEB‑recognised).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation, transmission and substation design.
• Proven experience with EMA and SPPG regulatory processes.
• Strong track record in P&L management and business development.

Required skills

• ETAP, PSSE, SKM, SPEL software proficiency.
• HV electrical calculations, fault current, load flow, short‑circuit, harmonic and thermal rating analyses.
• Protection relay coordination and earthing design.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, BS, NEC, UL standards and Singapore Standards (SS 638, SS 551, SS 555, SS 650, TR77).
• Familiarity with emerging energy trends such as decarbonisation, hydrogen and digital energy systems.
