Technical Lead (Java, React.js)

About the role

Activate Interactive, a technology consultancy in Singapore, is looking for a Technical Lead to provide technical leadership for Java-based application development and delivery, with enough ReactJS capability to lead full-stack development teams. The role translates functional requirements into robust technical solutions, mentors developers, resolves complex technical issues and keeps hands-on while building reusable engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of Java/Spring Boot applications and related ReactJS frontend components.
• Design and review application architecture, APIs, database structures, integrations and technical solutions.
• Guide developers in implementation, code review, debugging, performance optimization and production issue resolution.
• Establish coding standards, design principles, secure development practices and quality controls.
• Review technical estimates, identify technical risks and dependencies, and work with architects, project managers, business analysts and stakeholders.
• Mentor developers, share technical knowledge and support presales, proposals, solutioning and proof-of-concepts when required.
• Promote reuse of components, libraries, patterns and automation, and keep up with Java, ReactJS, cloud, AI-assisted development and other trends.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant software development experience, with substantial hands-on Java experience.
• At least 2 years leading developers or acting as a Tech Lead/Senior Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise Java applications and leading full-stack teams covering Java backend and ReactJS frontend.
• Experience in cloud-based development, CI/CD, containerized deployment and public-sector or large-enterprise projects.
• Degree or diploma in a computing-related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Required skills

• Strong Java (preferably 8/11/17+) and Spring/Spring Boot, with RESTful API and enterprise application experience.
• Relational databases, SQL, transaction management and database performance.
• ReactJS, including component development, state management, API integration and debugging.
• Software design patterns, clean code, unit/integration testing, code review, Git and CI/CD.
• Application security and secure coding.
• Desirable: AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, microservices, messaging/integration platforms, AI-assisted development.
