Tenure-Track Professor in Discourse Analysis (ELL)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a tenure‑track or tenured appointment at any level – Assistant, Associate or Full Professor – in Discourse Analysis within the English Language and Literature Department. The position is part of a world‑ranked education institute dedicated to teacher education, research impact and innovative teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research in discourse analysis with relevance to education.
• Publish findings in reputable peer‑reviewed international journals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English language, linguistics, and related areas.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and academic leadership.

Required profile

• PhD in English Language, Applied Linguistics or a closely related field with a focus on Discourse Analysis (must be held at time of appointment).
• Demonstrated record of scholarly publications and conference presentations appropriate to the rank applied for.
• Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• For Associate/Full Professor candidates: proven track record of securing competitive research grants, supervising graduate students, and providing academic leadership.
