Trading Operator - Naphtha, Petchem and LPG

About the role

BP's Trading & Shipping, Asia Pacific and Middle East (T&S APME) is looking for a Trading Operator based in Singapore. You will join a larger Trading Operations team and report to the Team Lead of the Petchem, Naphtha and LPG team. The business extracts value through effective stock inventory management, timely delivery scheduling, and optimized cargo matching and tanker berthing. The role focuses on supporting the Naphtha and/or PetChem business and marine activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with HSSE and operating standards, and work with BP Shipping to align with Group Marine Policy
• Coordinate and optimize scheduling of movements and operations, and keep accurate system records
• Work with traders, originators and marketers on new trading and marketing strategies
• Collaborate with regional offices on operational decisions and issue resolution
• Support ancillary invoice and payment processing for shipowners, service providers and surveyors
• Manage and recover demurrage and oil loss costs proactively
• Maintain relationships with terminals, shipping companies, surveyors and marketing businesses
• Provide market intelligence and support local or group initiatives as required

Required profile

• Meaningful operational experience with a proven track record of delivering commercial value
• Ability to implement compliance and HSSE requirements
• Supply and logistics knowledge, including tank storage, pipeline scheduling and truck deliveries
• University degree or diploma preferred, though behaviour and performance matter more
• Negligible travel expected; the role is not eligible for relocation

Required skills

• Knowledge of the energy trading industry and trading fundamentals
• Inventory management, trading and scheduling operations, voyage operations and trade discipline and compliance
• Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, with commercial awareness
