Science Lab Assistant – Food Lab (Dover Road)

About the role

The Science Lab Assistant will support daily operations of the school’s food laboratory, ensuring a clean, safe, and well‑stocked environment for cooking classes and related activities. This onsite position works Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of lab surfaces, floors, sinks, and equipment.
• Inspect and maintain tools, utensils, and appliances each day.
• Manage inventory of food items in refrigerators and storage, notifying the coordinator when supplies run low.
• Prepare raw materials for classes, including cutting and portioning.
• Organise and account for all utensils and cookware.
• Maintain safety signage and posters throughout the lab.
• Assist with termly stock‑takes of equipment and utensils.
• Label and clean tabletops, shelves, and equipment twice a year.
• Conduct termly checks on perishable items.
• Support afternoon cooking programs and school‑based activities in the food lab.

Required profile

• Basic certifications in food preparation and food safety.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience working in a food‑service or laboratory environment.
