Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative

About the role

The Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative will lead comprehensive nursing care across the pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative phases. This role ensures safe surgical outcomes, operational excellence, and high‑quality patient care within the operating theatre.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protective measures against chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, radiation and thermal hazards.
• Transport patients safely, monitoring for skin and tissue injury.
• Prepare, apply and remove devices that enhance operative exposure, prevent neuromuscular injury and maintain tissue integrity.
• Use supplies and equipment within safe parameters and perform mandatory instrument and sponge counts.
• Maintain a sterile field, apply aseptic technique and initiate infection‑prevention activities.
• Manage collection, handling and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Administer prescribed medications and solutions in accordance with hospital policy.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• At least 4 years of experience in an Operating Theatre setting, preferably as a Scrub Nurse.
