Principal Pharmacist – Retail & Pricing

About the role

The Principal Pharmacist, Retail and Pricing will lead the retail pharmacy operations at the upcoming Tengah General and Community Hospital, ensuring high‑quality service, optimal product availability and effective pricing strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and improve Retail Assistant productivity, customer service, merchandising and cash handling.
• Monitor stock conditions, expiry dates and implement waste‑reduction measures.
• Analyse financial and service performance of retail operations and report outcomes to the Head of Department.
• Develop skill‑development programmes for Retail Assistants covering product knowledge, merchandising and cashiering.
• Strategise retail pharmacy expansion, review product range and identify revenue‑enhancing opportunities.
• Collaborate with the ALPS purchasing team on central warehousing, contracts, licensing and manpower negotiations.
• Set up and maintain pricing structures, decide on margins and ensure accurate implementation across item codes.
• Assist with CDMP/Medifund workflow and final verification processes for pricing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital or medical institution.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and solve problems quickly.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the capacity to multitask.
• Excellent analytical, written and presentation abilities.
• Proactive, resilient under pressure and capable of working independently or within teams.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships at all levels.
• Leadership qualities with a track record of motivating and nurturing staff.
• Tech‑savvy with a willingness to learn new software and relevant applications.
