Senior Vice President, Markets Control

About the role

The Senior Vice President, Markets Control will lead the APAC Markets Controls function for a global bank. You will partner with senior stakeholders across the Front Office, Operations and risk functions to embed robust non‑financial risk controls throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the APAC lead for Markets Controls, engaging senior stakeholders across regional and global forums.
• Implement end‑to‑end non‑financial risk and control frameworks across APAC Markets.
• Drive control ownership, accountability and effectiveness across Front Office, Operations and partner functions.
• Assess emerging risks linked to product expansion and embed controls into business growth and operating‑model changes.
• Partner with global and regional teams to align APAC activities with enterprise control frameworks and governance standards.
• Lead regulatory engagement with MAS, HKMA, FSS and embed requirements ahead of implementation deadlines.
• Design, enhance and oversee a consistent, evolving control framework in partnership with Business, Middle Office, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Risk.
• Lead remediation programs arising from audit findings, regulatory requests, operational risk events and strategic initiatives.
• Identify, investigate and escalate material risk and control issues, ensuring timely remediation.
• Review documentation and control evidence to assess effectiveness, efficiency and policy adherence.
• Anticipate technology and emerging‑risk trends and design proactive controls.
• Establish clear reporting and escalation practices for senior management and governance forums.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 13–18 years of relevant experience in financial services.
• Significant markets experience with deep subject‑matter expertise across Fixed Income, Equities, Execution Services (FIEQ) and Global Collateral.
• Strong background in risk and control disciplines such as First Line Controls, Operational Risk, Control Assurance, or related areas.
