Regional Competency Centre Specialist - Building Automation

About the role

ABB's Building Automation business is looking for a Regional Competency Centre Specialist in Singapore, reporting to the Market Development Manager. The role supports the business by combining technical expertise and industry knowledge to improve operational efficiency, drive innovation and deliver strong service to customers. It includes creating demand with consultants and onboarding new customers and channel partners. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate product demonstrations and presentations to show the value of ABB's products and solutions.
• Generate product demand by promoting technical aspects, offering solutions and using a value-based selling approach.
• Support preparation of sales proposals, review project specifications and advise on product selection to secure new orders.
• Provide technical support during technical meetings, presentations and negotiations, and give technical advice.
• Perform analytics and diagnostic studies to find the most suitable technical solution for each customer.
• Work with the manager to build technical competency in the local product marketing team for the Building Automation portfolio.
• Deliver product, solution and service training, and help prepare and validate technical articles for publication.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in building automation systems, guest room management systems and lighting control projects.
• Valid work permit, residency or citizenship of Singapore.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

• Strong background in programming, testing and commissioning of DDC and PLC-based building automation systems.
• Experience in design and estimation, project compliance, IO point calculations, shop drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Deep understanding of protocols such as KNX, BACnet, Modbus and OPC.
• Niagara 4 TCP and Niagara 4 Developer certification, and KNX Basic and Advanced certification preferred.
• Basic cloud certification and hands-on experience with Node-RED are an advantage; ASHRAE HVAC Level 1 and Level 2 certification is an advantage.
