Senior/Staff Nurse – Paediatric UCC

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Urgent Care Centre (UCC). The role involves delivering holistic, patient‑centred care, supporting complex clinical cases, and leading junior staff on the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' biopsychosocial and cultural needs and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide basic and complex nursing care in alignment with physician and APN orders.
• Participate actively in physician rounds and assist with procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of observations, interventions, and evaluations.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Deliver health education and training to patients and families to support self‑care.
• Ensure a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection‑control standards.
• Precept and coach new or junior staff, as well as nursing students.
• Assume Staff Nurse in‑charge or Deputy Nurse Manager duties during officer absence.
• Engage in quality improvement, research, and cost‑containment initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with substantial experience in paediatric acute or urgent care.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient cases and lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong ethical judgment and commitment to patient safety.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, positive attitude.
• Willingness to participate in continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating healthcare equipment, technology, and information systems.
• Skilled in comprehensive clinical assessment and documentation.
