Associate – Financial Sponsors, Global Banking, Asia Pacific

About the role

This position supports the growth of Santander CIB’s Financial Sponsors franchise across Asia Pacific. Working closely with the Head of Financial Sponsors, the associate will combine client coverage, origination, transaction execution and strategic development for leading global and regional sponsors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Financial Sponsors in building the franchise and managing priority sponsor relationships.
• Develop deep knowledge of sponsor funds, investment strategies and portfolio companies to identify financing and advisory opportunities.
• Maintain client plans, relationship maps, pipeline tracking and market intelligence.
• Coordinate with product teams to originate and execute transactions, including financial analysis, modelling, valuation, credit assessment and documentation.
• Leverage Santander’s global network to deliver cross‑border capabilities and identify new opportunities.
• Prepare high‑quality presentations, pitches, market updates and transaction materials for senior client discussions.
• Work with credit, risk and control functions to move opportunities efficiently through internal processes.
• Support strategic planning, revenue tracking and portfolio reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, financial sponsors coverage, leveraged or acquisition finance, infrastructure/structured finance, M&A or related corporate finance roles.
• Prior exposure to global financial sponsors is preferred.
• Strong foundation in corporate finance, credit analysis and financial analysis.
• Proven ability to support origination and execution of complex transactions.
