Accountant – Startup Finance Lead

About the role

This position offers an exciting chance to join a newly created joint venture in the textile and manufacturing sector. As the first accountant, you will help build the finance function from the ground up, working closely with senior leadership as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full spectrum of accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across related entities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and external service providers.
• Support the design and improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, including full‑set accounts management.
• Strong understanding of month‑end close, financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Experience with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑growing environment.
• Comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders.
• Prior exposure to textile, retail or start‑up environments is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Mandarin for communication with Mandarin‑speaking stakeholders.
