Analytical Development Chemist (12-Month Contract)

About the role

GSK is looking for an Analytical Development Chemist on a 12-month contract to assist the Analytical Tech Transfer Manager. The role ensures that testing activities, methods and specifications introduced or changed during the product lifecycle are validated or verified in line with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and regulatory requirements, and supports analytical testing needed to resolve process and method issues, method validation and the introduction of new measurement technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, compile, review and update laboratory documents such as analytical methods and specifications, method validation/equivalency protocols and reports, and local GMP procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure data supporting the resolution of process and method issues is accurate enough to drive the right corrective actions.
• Contribute to plans for implementing new or improved testing technologies and methods for products and cleaning processes.
• Support a safe working environment by taking part in or issuing safety risk assessments for product-specific methods and performing 6S inspections.
• Lead or take part in investigations into laboratory incidents, assess the impact of failures and recommend remedial or CAPA actions.
• Take part in approving changes that affect product quality, validation or cGMP compliance, coordinate sample testing, comment on change documentation and ensure changes are closed out.

Required profile

• Fresh graduates with a minimum degree in chemistry or a related field are open to applying.
• At least 3 years of experience in an analytical environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
• Good communication, problem-solving and project management skills.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements for method validation.
• Understanding of product specifications and method analysis.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and laboratory support procedures.
