About the role

The Assistant Commercial Manager will lead the project commercial team, ensuring project margins are achieved and cash flow remains positive. This senior position requires accurate reporting, strategic commercial insight, and strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of the commercial team on construction projects.
• Achieve target project margins and maintain a positive cash profile.
• Deliver accurate, transparent and on‑time financial reporting.
• Identify and recommend commercial strategies, including variations and entitlements.
• Manage procurement, subcontractors, suppliers and consultant services.
• Oversee contract and tender documentation and final account settlements.
• Participate in risk management and control activities.
• Highlight key financial risks through timely forecasting.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and partners.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Science.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar commercial role within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction contract law, tender requirements and claims management.
• Experience with mechanical & electrical (M&E) projects is an advantage.
• Excellent numeracy, analytical ability and a proactive “can‑do” attitude.
