Assistant Cook

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team and help prepare authentic Indian, Chinese and South Indian vegetarian dishes. You will work closely with the Head Cook to maintain high food quality, consistency, and hygiene standards across breakfast, lunch and dinner services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Indian cuisine, tandoor dishes and South Indian vegetarian meals using authentic raw materials, herbs and spices.
• Ensure all food is freshly prepared, meets quality standards and follows correct stock rotation procedures.
• Monitor and control inventory levels, portion sizes and waste.
• Assist with catering functions, menu sampling and the introduction of new dishes.
• Train new cooks and support the kitchen team during busy periods.
• Maintain daily kitchen cleanliness and conduct a thorough weekly cleaning with the team.
• Follow a split shift schedule covering breakfast, lunch and dinner production.

Required profile

• Experienced chef with a background in Indian, Chinese and South Indian vegetarian cuisines.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and occasional weekdays off.
• Fluent in Tamil and Hindi is preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain consistency in taste.
