Assistant Director – Facilities Operations & Safety

About the role

The Assistant Director, Estates (Facilities Operations & Safety) leads the management and maintenance of campus facilities, ensuring operational readiness and safety compliance across the institute.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily facilities management operations, conduct onsite checks, and ensure vendor service deliverables and safety inspections.
• Manage procurement, tenders, contracts, and system maintenance, and follow up on incident‑related actions.
• Review and approve policies, support operations strategies, and explore automation opportunities.
• Provide financial forecasts, budget forecasts for campus operations, and participate in procurement in line with organisational policies.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, offering guidance on operational matters.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, Facilities Management or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of facility management or building maintenance experience.
• At least 7 years in a managerial role.
• Familiarity with local workplace safety and health regulations.
• Preferred certifications: FSM, GMM, GMFM, SCEM, Safety Coordinator/Supervisor/Officer, LEW, or a Master’s degree.
• Strong organisational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
