Tunnel Lining Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Tunnel Lining Design Engineer to join our team in Singapore. The role involves the design, analysis and optimisation of tunnel lining systems for a variety of underground infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for segmental, shotcrete and cast‑in‑place tunnel linings.
• Perform structural and geotechnical analysis, including finite element modelling, to verify performance under loads, hydrostatic pressure and seismic events.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to assess ground conditions and integrate findings into lining designs.
• Provide technical guidance during construction, review shop drawings and resolve design‑related issues.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as Eurocodes, BS, ASTM and ITA guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience designing tunnel linings for TBM, NATM or cut‑and‑cover methods.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLAXIS, MIDAS GTS, Abaqus or SAP2000.
• Finite element analysis (FEM) for soil‑structure interaction.
• Knowledge of rock mechanics, hydrogeology and waterproofing systems.
• Experience with joint design and durability considerations for tunnel linings.
