As Assistant Director, Innovation Office (Health Tech Ecosystem Lead) on a 2-year contract, reporting to the Deputy Director, you will drive the industry-facing side of the office: identifying emerging trends, building strategic health tech partnerships and brokering collaborations between external technology ecosystem players and internal stakeholders into exploratory pilots.
Key responsibilities
- Connect internal needs with external capabilities to build an innovation pipeline aligned with HPB's strategic priorities.
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify, clarify and refine priority problem statements and opportunity areas.
- Scan emerging technology trends, platforms and ecosystems to inform approaches to priority problem spaces.
- Build and maintain a network of partners including technology firms, startups, academia and intermediaries such as incubators and ecosystem builders.
- Match external partners to HPB problem statements and facilitate early-stage collaborations that move promising ideas into exploratory pilots.
- Support programme teams in accessing external expertise, partners and platforms, and guide junior officers, interns or temporary staff where relevant.
Required profile
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience, with a strong track record in strategy, innovation, policy, transformation, venture building, pilots or other exploratory work in complex environments.
- Experience in public health, healthcare or a related sector is an advantage.
- Ability to identify, assess and shape opportunities in ambiguous contexts, and to translate technology signals into opportunity pathways.
- Strong partnership-building skills and confidence engaging technology firms, startups, academia, intermediaries and internal stakeholders.
Required skills
- Familiarity with digital and AI tools in a public health or government setting is an advantage; deep technical expertise is not required.
Successful candidates are offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
