Assistant Manager, Land Dealings Approval Unit (LDAU)

About the role

The Land Dealings Approval Unit (LDAU) administers the Residential Property Act 1976 to regulate foreign ownership of restricted residential property in Singapore. As Assistant Manager, you will run the unit's day-to-day operations, including case assessment, policy review, stakeholder engagement, compliance and enforcement, data analysis and improvements to operational systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, manage and evaluate cases; respond to enquiries from members of the public, foreign persons and lawyers
• Support projects and carry out enforcement checks on individuals and entities
• Review policies, prepare submissions and recommend updates to keep them current and relevant
• Conduct data analysis to detect breaches, collate statistics and verify data in the system
• Manage and enhance the LDAU enforcement portal and the operations system
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor

Required profile

• Good command of written and spoken English, with clear, succinct writing
• Meticulous, mature, diligent and responsible; able to work under pressure on time-sensitive work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, interacting professionally with the public
• Advantageous: legal background or experience supporting lawyers and in-house counsel, and experience applying statutory provisions
• Advantageous: familiarity with legislative review, access to Parliamentary Reports and debates, and enforcement or compliance work in public or regulatory agencies
• Advantageous: some knowledge of conveyancing and property sales and purchases
