Associate Chemist (Shift) - Tuas

About the role

Abbott's nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, and is hiring a Shift Associate Chemist in Tuas, Singapore. The chemist ensures that all testing activities in the analytical laboratory are carried out safely and productively, in line with GMP, GLP and ISO standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out testing, review results, calibrate and maintain equipment, and provide analytical services to Plant Operations
• Ensure all laboratory work complies with GMP/GLP and ISO/IEC 17025 standards
• Assist in method transfers, equipment qualification, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of quality issues on the production floor
• Alert engineering and operations to conditions that could affect the customer experience
• Assist with batch corrections and lab investigations, and support audits, incoming quality assurance and reporting
• Train new hires and analysts, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology or a related discipline, or a diploma with at least 1 to 3 years of experience
• Preferably 1 year of experience in a chemistry laboratory testing environment, or equivalent education and experience; fresh graduates with academic laboratory experience are also acceptable
• Able and willing to work shift hours

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, UV and ICP
• Practical experience in a fast-paced laboratory with tight deadlines and problem-solving ability
