Associate, Financial Control – APAC (Japanese/English)

About the role

Checkout.com is looking for a newly qualified enthusiastic Associate to join the Financial Control team in Singapore. This hands‑on role reports to the Director of Financial Control (APAC) and offers the chance to work in a fast‑growing global fintech company.

Key responsibilities

• Own legal‑entity financial reporting to ensure complete, accurate ledgers and meet reporting deadlines.
• Assist in the preparation and review of VAT returns.
• Support the global and local statutory audit process.
• Collaborate on finance transformation initiatives across APAC with the Group Finance team.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Support a range of tax‑related matters, including corporate, consumption, depreciable assets, and withholding tax.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc financial projects and analysis as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, or a related field with a strong academic record.
• Newly qualified (CA/CPA/ACCA) professional.
• 5‑7 years of relevant experience, preferably Big 4 + financial services or tech‑focused finance roles.
• Strong background in Financial Control.
• Sound technical accounting knowledge, confident preparing financial statements under Japanese GAAP.
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English (spoken and written).
