Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

As a Buyer at Applied Materials, you will be responsible for sourcing the materials, supplies, machinery, and services that keep our cutting‑edge manufacturing facilities running. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure the right items are delivered on time, at the right cost, and with the required quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities to obtain goods at the lowest total cost while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve supply issues and ensure continuity of production.
• Manage pull‑ins and push‑outs with suppliers to meet MRP demand and production schedules.
• Address material‑related accounting and receiving discrepancies.
• Oversee inventory and excess & obsolete (E&Z) management efforts.
• Drive purchasing process improvements and train team members on new programs.
• Support strategic planning for cost‑effective procurement, inventory control, and quality assurance.
• Mentor junior buyers and develop their capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 4–7 years of procurement or supply‑chain experience.
• Strong business acumen to interpret internal and external challenges and recommend best practices.
