Construction Planner – Refinery Projects

About the role

The Construction Planner will lead the development and maintenance of fully logic‑linked construction schedules for refinery projects. You will work closely with contractors, engineering, procurement and other disciplines to ensure seamless schedule integration and timely project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, baseline and control detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6, covering all trades (civil, structural, mechanical, piping, insulation, painting, electrical, instrumentation, etc.).
• Integrate subcontractor L4 schedules, compare, optimise and ensure logical linkage across all work packages.
• Monitor progress, analyse variances, update critical path and produce weekly/monthly planning reports (S‑curves, manpower histograms, productivity analysis, look‑ahead schedules).
• Perform schedule risk assessments, develop mitigation and recovery plans, and support forensic schedule and time impact analyses for claims.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, HSE and commissioning teams to embed schedule constraints and milestones.
• Assess impacts of design changes, scope growth, procurement delays and site constraints, advising project management on risks and change orders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 + years of planning and scheduling experience on oil & gas refinery projects (brownfield and greenfield).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management.
• Proven track record of delivering complex refinery construction schedules.

Required skills

• Expert‑level proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory).
• Advanced schedule analysis, recovery planning and claims support.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Schedule risk assessment and time impact analysis.
• Construction scheduling across multiple disciplines (piping, structural steel, mechanical, E&I, insulation).
