Cybersecurity Intern - Security Architecture & Engineering

About the role

The NETS Group, a payments services group behind Singapore's national debit scheme, is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join its Security Architecture & Engineering function under the CISO office. The internship gives hands-on experience protecting enterprise systems, networks and data from cyber threats, while exposing key stakeholders involved in maintaining and managing security controls.

Key responsibilities

• Run periodic health checks on deployed security tools and work with internal teams and vendors to fix issues.
• Monitor and manage service request and incident tickets within agreed SLAs, and handle stakeholder requests via the shared security mailbox.
• Build and maintain Excel dashboards tracking cybersecurity KPIs such as incidents, patch compliance and vulnerability status.
• Research emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Help write operational documentation and Knowledge Operating Procedures (KOPs) with security SMEs.
• Provide Level 1 support for security solutions such as SIEM, XDR, vulnerability management, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF and IDS/IPS.
• Shadow senior engineers during security assessments and architecture planning, and contribute to automation through scripts or tools.
• Support technical documentation, diagrams and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools for reporting.
• Advantageous: exposure to cybersecurity tools, prior cybersecurity, IT, data analysis or related projects/internships.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols and operating systems.
• Familiarity with firewalls, antivirus software and SIEM platforms.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF statements), pivot tables and charts.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and discretion with sensitive information.
