Data Center SSD Performance Validation Engineer

About the role

Micron is looking for a Data Center SSD Performance Validation Engineer to own the end-to-end performance and power readiness of assigned Data Center SSD programs. The role covers execution quality, technical depth and cross-functional alignment, ensuring performance and power targets are met from early bring-up through customer qualification. It combines technical execution, data-driven decisions and program-level leadership across firmware, architecture and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end performance and power readiness, from early firmware maturity through customer qualification, delivering high-quality performance and power data aligned with program goals.
• Drive program status updates on performance and power to Product Development and other stakeholders.
• Perform in-depth performance analysis and root-cause debugging, understanding firmware behaviors, state machines and hardware interactions, and identify performance risks early.
• Work with Firmware, Architecture and System teams on mitigations, and represent the performance view in product change requests, leading change implementation.
• Plan and forecast infrastructure and development needs, and ensure the right performance test levels are applied per program phase and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Firmware, Architecture, Systems, QA and PDT, align the program site with the DC SSD Performance Test Strategy, and share standard processes in internal engineering forums.
• Identify gaps in performance methods, coverage or tooling and propose improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong background in SSD performance and power characterization.
• Hands-on experience with data analysis, workload execution and performance debugging.
• Solid understanding of firmware-hardware interactions affecting latency, bandwidth and power.
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to internal and external partners.
