Job description
About the role
Micron is hiring a Data Scientist to apply techniques from mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science and information technology to find patterns in data and build predictive models and actionable insights. You will work with Data Scientists, AI Engineers and Business Area Engineers to define analysis projects and improve existing tools, and help develop software, algorithms and automated processes that cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from many sources.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement computer vision systems for object detection, image segmentation, anomaly detection and automated inspection, including vision inspection for volume/density measurement and defect monitoring.
- Develop and deploy deep learning models (CNNs, LSTMs, transformer-based architectures) for image classification, time-series anomaly detection and multimodal sentiment analysis, using TensorFlow, PyTorch and Keras.
- Apply few-shot learning, generative AI and multimodal fusion to solve manufacturing and environmental monitoring challenges.
- Extract, cleanse and analyse large datasets from SQL databases, GCP and image data, with outlier detection and missing data handling.
- Lead collaboration with engineering, operations and quality teams, including project management, technical writing and mentoring engineers in AI.
- Coordinate production deployment using MLOps best practices: model monitoring, data drift detection, versioning and automated testing.
- Communicate technical concepts and project outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or AI.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience building and deploying scalable AI applications in manufacturing, semiconductor or electronics.
- 1-2 years of computer vision experience for industrial applications (object detection, segmentation, inspection).
- 1 year with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch), including CNNs and generative AI.
- Experience with multimodal datasets (image with text or time-series), sentiment analysis or fusion of data types.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with cross-functional project management and mentoring experience.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and deliver quality in fast-paced environments.
- Preferred: semiconductor or electronics manufacturing experience, and hands-on integration of computer vision or NLP into production systems.
Required skills
- Python programming
- SQL (at least 1 year)
- Distributed computing frameworks (Spark or Hadoop)
- OpenCV for computer vision
- TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras
