Deputy Chief Counsel

About the role

IMDA Group Legal is looking for a Deputy Chief Counsel to join its policy and regulatory counsel team. The role advises on regulatory frameworks and policy developments that support Singapore's digital economy, covering telecommunications, post, media and data protection. It suits people who can find creative solutions to novel legal issues and navigate ambiguities arising from emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on IMDA's policy and regulatory affairs, including telecommunications, post, media and data protection (PDPC), administrative law, TMT/ICT and competition law, regulatory instruments, exercise of regulatory powers, enforcement proceedings and appeals.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on legislation, regulatory frameworks and policies.
• Draft contracts and advise on corporate and industry development matters.
• Identify legal risks and devise legal risk management strategies and internal governance policies.
• Advise on contentious issues and manage litigation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law.
• Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor in Singapore.
• Minimum 7 years' post-qualification experience in legal practice and/or corporate in-house TMT, ICT and data protection.
• Experience in litigation preferred.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
