Deputy/Assistant Manager, Autonomous Vehicle Policy & Regulation

About the role

The Centre for Autonomous Mobility (CAM) leads Singapore's national strategy to integrate autonomous vehicles (AVs) into its transport ecosystem. As Singapore targets large-scale AV deployment, CAM is seeking a Deputy/Assistant Manager to build the regulatory foundation for safe, efficient AV operations on public roads. The role combines drafting primary legislation with developing the operational infrastructure, including authorisation frameworks, safety protocols and compliance guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Research and propose recommendations to draft critical sections of AV legislation, keeping Singapore's regulatory framework globally competitive
• Monitor international regulatory developments, conduct regulatory impact assessments and explain policy trade-offs to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Design and oversee the full authorisation workflow for AV operators, from application to ongoing compliance monitoring
• Establish data governance protocols, incident reporting mechanisms and audit frameworks
• Support consultation with industry players, academic institutions and international partners, turning diverse views into coherent policy recommendations

Required profile

• Knowledge of law, public policy, business or arts and social sciences; engineering, technology management or related technical knowledge is particularly valued
• At least 2 years of substantive experience in regulatory affairs, policy development or technology governance, ideally in transport, automotive or emerging technology
• Experience designing administrative processes such as licensing regimes, permit systems or compliance frameworks is highly desirable
• Comfortable interpreting technical standards and aligning regulations with safety requirements
• Exceptional communication, writing and presentation skills, with a proactive, results-oriented approach under tight deadlines
