Director, Government Affairs – Asia Region

About the role

The Director, Government Affairs – Asia Region will lead Amgen’s government affairs and healthcare policy coordination across the Japan Asia Pacific (JAPAC) markets. Reporting to regional leadership, the role translates global policy priorities into actionable regional strategies and supports engagement with policymakers, payers, industry associations and other external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regional alignment and execution of government affairs and healthcare policy priorities across JAPAC.
• Monitor, analyze and communicate emerging healthcare, geopolitical, trade, intellectual‑property and pricing developments.
• Coordinate with Washington DC, global and ELMAC teams to ensure consistent policy positions and messaging.
• Support affiliate teams in developing strategic narratives, stakeholder engagement plans and approved messaging.
• Prepare briefing materials, leadership messaging and strategic guidance for regional leaders.
• Provide timely policy guidance and cross‑market insights to affiliates.
• Integrate affiliate perspectives and market intelligence into global government‑affairs discussions.
• Develop and maintain strategic policy narratives, leadership briefings and stakeholder communications.

• Senior, collaborative leader with strong regional policy expertise.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management capabilities across government, payer and industry groups.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, multicultural environment.
• Strategic thinker able to translate global priorities into regional actions.
• Proven experience in healthcare policy, pricing, trade and intellectual‑property matters.
